# KisuKisu > KisuKisu is a free voice-typing app for Android. You talk the way you talk (ums, restarts, "I mean") and it types clean text. A floating bubble next to your keyboard works in any app. Speech recognition and cleanup run on the phone, so it works offline and in airplane mode, with no account. KisuKisu is made by Akhil Srinivas. It is in closed testing on Google Play (package com.kisukisu.app). To join the Android beta, fill in the form at https://forms.gle/dwdAoq4V1xZWSHcG6 . A Mac version is coming soon; there is no iPhone version. - Price: free. No account, no sign-up, no ads, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising IDs. - Availability: closed beta on Google Play; join via https://forms.gle/dwdAoq4V1xZWSHcG6 . - Language: English. - On-device: speech-to-text and the AI cleanup both run on the phone. After a one-time model download, dictation works offline and in airplane mode. - Network use: model downloads (from Hugging Face) only. Cloud speech/AI providers (OpenAI, Groq, Anthropic, OpenRouter, Vercel AI Gateway, or a custom endpoint) are optional, off by default, and use the user's own API key. - Not a keyboard: a floating bubble that sits next to whatever keyboard you use (Gboard, Samsung Keyboard, SwiftKey). - Gestures: tap the bubble to talk as long as you like, then tap ✓ to send or ✕ to discard. Hold the bubble for a quick line; release to send, slide onto ✕ to cancel. Drag to move; drop on the circle to hide for 10 minutes; shake the phone to bring it back. - Inserting text: with Android Accessibility turned on, text is typed straight into the focused text box. Without it, the text is copied to the clipboard to paste. - Cleanup: removes filler words (um, uh, you know), resolves spoken self-corrections ("scratch that", "never mind", "X, I mean Y"), turns spoken numbers into digits, handles "new line" / "new paragraph" and spoken numbered lists, adds punctuation. An on-device AI pass then polishes the text; if it would change the meaning too much, the rule-based cleaned text is used instead. - Tone by app: tidier in email and documents, relaxed in chats; no trailing full stop in chat messages. Editable. - Learns your words: fix a misheard word ("Fix a word" from the bubble or the notification, or by editing a past dictation) and it is spelled right after that. Personal dictionary on the phone. - Contacts: optional "Import from contacts" adds contact names to the dictionary. Matched on the phone, never uploaded. - Model choice is automatic, by RAM, free storage and a short speed test, checked before any download: - about 6 GB RAM or more, on a phone that is fast enough: Parakeet 0.6B speech model (~631 MB) + KisuKisu Cleanup (~149 MB), about 780 MB in all. - every other phone, down to 3 GB RAM and Android Go: Parakeet Small (~126 MB) + KisuKisu Cleanup (~149 MB), about 275 MB in all. - KisuKisu Cleanup is a small model trained for tidying dictation, based on Liquid AI LFM2.5 (LFM Open License v1.0). - Downloads also need about 350 MB of free-space headroom; low storage is flagged before anything downloads. - Other models selectable in Settings: Nemotron Live (~465 MB, live words while talking), Whisper Small, Base and Tiny, Moonshine Tiny, KisuKisu Cleanup Classic (Qwen3 0.6B, ~397 MB), Gemma 3 270M, Qwen3 0.6B, or a model added from a link. - Make it yours: free skins, voices, moves and secrets earned by dictating (nine skins in the first drop: Scanline, Pulp Dots, Woofer, Night Drive, Mecha Plate, Sticker Bomb, Two-Ink, Vector, Vinyl Toy); Your journey, a progress screen in chapters with forgiving streaks; Blot lingers a moment after the keyboard closes; a practice box; Blot on or off per app; backup and restore to a file you choose (history optional, optional password). Progress stays on the phone and nothing is sent anywhere. - Data on the phone: dictation history (optional, clearable), recordings of failed dictations kept for retry (7, 30 or 90 days; all other recordings are deleted as soon as the text lands), dictionary, learned words, style examples. All removed on uninstall. ## Pages - [Home](https://kisukisu-app.github.io/): what KisuKisu does, features, how it works, FAQ, beta sign-up. - [Offline voice typing](https://kisukisu-app.github.io/offline-voice-typing.html): voice typing that works in airplane mode; what runs on the phone and what needs the internet. - [Private voice typing](https://kisukisu-app.github.io/private-voice-typing.html): no account, nothing uploaded; what stays on the phone, what goes over the network, and each permission explained. - [Voice typing in any app](https://kisukisu-app.github.io/voice-typing-any-app.html): the floating bubble in WhatsApp, Gmail, Slack and Notes; tap or hold to talk; typed in or copied. - [Features](https://kisukisu-app.github.io/features.html): everything KisuKisu does, with real spoken lines and what it typed: cleanup, edit by voice, your words, skins, voices and Your journey. - [Will it run on my phone?](https://kisukisu-app.github.io/will-it-run-on-my-phone.html): Android version, 64-bit, RAM tiers, storage, and every model with its size. - [KisuKisu vs Gboard voice typing](https://kisukisu-app.github.io/compare/gboard-voice-typing.html): side-by-side with Gboard's built-in voice typing. - [Wispr Flow alternative for Android](https://kisukisu-app.github.io/compare/wispr-flow-alternative-android.html): how KisuKisu compares to Wispr Flow on Android. - [Privacy policy](https://kisukisu-app.github.io/privacy.html): full privacy policy for the Android app.
