Nobody talks in clean sentences
You say "um", you repeat yourself, you change your mind halfway. Plain voice typing writes all of it down. Google itself calls this "traditional voice typing that transcribes word-for-word" (source). Then you fix it with your thumb.
"Um, so can we meet tomorrow, I mean today, at three?"
So can we meet today at three?
Why add KisuKisu
It cleans up
Ums, repeats and "I mean" fixes come out. "Tomorrow, I mean today" becomes "today". What lands is the sentence you meant.
It works offline
The speech model and the cleanup AI both run on your phone. Airplane mode, no signal, no problem. Your voice never leaves it.
It works in any app
A bubble sits by your keyboard. Tap to talk, or hold for a quick line and let go to send. WhatsApp, Gmail, Slack, Notes.

Where Gboard is ahead
Straight answers. Gboard is a good keyboard, and for some people it's enough.
- It's already there. If Gboard is your keyboard, voice typing is one tap away. KisuKisu is an extra app, plus a one-time model download of about 0.3 to 1 GB.
- More languages. Google says its speech recognition covers 119 language varieties (source). KisuKisu is best in English today.
- Voice editing on newer Pixels. Advanced voice typing on Pixel 6 and later lets you say "Delete last word" or "Change ___ to ___" (source).
- On a Pixel 11, Gboard cleans up too. Rambler removes filler words and rewrites by voice, in 11+ languages (source). It needs a connection for its full features. On every other phone, KisuKisu is how you get cleanup.
- No extra permissions. KisuKisu's bubble needs "Display over other apps", and typing for you needs Accessibility. Both are your choice, but they're extra steps.
Questions
Do I have to stop using Gboard?
No. KisuKisu is not a keyboard. It's a small bubble that sits next to the keyboard you already use, Gboard included. Tap the bubble to talk; your keyboard stays as it is.
Doesn't Gboard already clean up my speech?
On Pixel 11 phones, Gboard's Rambler removes filler words. On other phones, Google describes its voice typing as word for word. KisuKisu cleans up on any phone with Android 7.0 or newer.
What does KisuKisu take out?
Ums and uhs, repeats, and self-corrections. Say "tomorrow, I mean today" and it types "today". Say "scratch that" and the part before it goes. It also handles spoken punctuation and lists.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. The speech model and the cleanup AI download once, then run on your phone. After that it works in airplane mode, and your voice never leaves the phone.
Which apps does it work in?
Any app with a text box: WhatsApp, Gmail, Slack, Notes and the rest. With Auto-insert on, the words are typed straight in. Without it, they're copied and you paste them.
Which languages does it support?
KisuKisu is best in English today. The Whisper speech models understand 99 languages. Gboard covers more languages, so if you mostly dictate in another language, Gboard may suit you better for now.
